The Nugget:
James 1:18 Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.
My Comment:
The fourth title the Bible gives itself is the word of truth. If God’s Word in the Bible is true, surely we can trust it! But notice particularly that this passage tells us God has made us new creatures in Christ by means of this word of truth now contained in the Bible. If you put some of these Bible statements together that I’ve shared, you will notice that the Bible is declared to be the power of God unto salvation (Romans 1:16), in that the Bible we now have in complete form contains the total Gospel message. We know that the Bible declares itself sharper than any two edged sword, and it is alive and powerful (Hebrews 4:12). We become saved, born again, as we read then believe the message of the Bible. Then we benefit further from continuing to read and study the Bible, for it enables us to experience spiritual growth. Through the Bible we can grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. This Book, of all books, is the One Book we should especially take time on a regular basis to spend time with, for to do so is to spend time with God Himself, for through the Bible He can speak to us, just as through prayer we can speak to Him.
