Daily Bible Nugget #113, John 15:16

The Nugget:

John 15:16 Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.

My Comment:

As I was first taught about this verse, “the fruit that remains” has reference to those we have won to Christ. This verse was related to Proverbs 11:30, “The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.” In any case, it is a wonderful experience to be used of the Lord to lead another to faith in Him. Apparently only a small percentage of Christian believers have had this experience today. Jesus said, “The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest” (Luke 10:2). Many of us may think this is strictly the job of Christian professionals, like pastors and missionaries. As I read the New Testament, I think the practice in the Church of the New Testament was to involve every believer to reach out to those around them. If more people were brought to genuine faith in the Lord and became Bible reading, Bible studying, and Bible practicing Christians, the world would be much better for it.

One Response to Daily Bible Nugget #113, John 15:16

  1. ken sagely says:

jn 15.16 ye have not chosen me, but i have chosen you, and ordained you,
    that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain;
that whatsoever ye shall ask of the father in my name, he may give it you.

a great promise from the gospel of john and encouraging cross refs also.

    1. jn 15.19 if ye were of this world, the world would love his own: but
because ye are not of the world, but i have chosen you out of the world,
    therefore the world hateth you.
    2. jn 6.70 jesus answered them, have not i chosen you 12, and one of you
    is a devil?
    3. jn 13.18 i speak not of you all: i know whom i have chosen: but that the
scripture may be fulfilled, he that eateth bread with hath lifted me up his
    heel against me.
    4. lk 6.13 and when it was day, he called unto him his disciples: and of them
he chose 12, whom also he named apostles.
    5. acts 1.24 and they prayed, and said, thou, lord, which knowest the hearts
of all men, shew whether of these two thou hast chosen,
    6. acts 9.15 but the lord said unto him, go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel
unto me, to bear my name before the gentiles, and kings, and the children of
    israel:
    7. rom 9.11 for the children being not yet born, neither having done any good
or evil, that the purpose of god according to election might stand, not of works,
    but of him that calleth.
    8. rom 9.16 so then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of
    God that sheweth mercy.
    9. rom 9.21 hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make
one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour?
    10. 1 jn 4.10 herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent
his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
    11. matt 28.18 and jesus came and spake unto them, saying, all power is given
unto me in heaven and in earth.
    12. matt 28.19 go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptiziing them in the name
of the father, and of the son, and of the Holy Spirit.
    13. acts 1.8 but ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Spirit is come upon you:
and you shall be my witnesses unto me both in jerusalem, and in all judea, and in
samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
    14. rom 1.13 now i would not have you ignorant, brethren, that oftentimes i purposed
to come unto you, but was let hitherto, that i might have some fruit among you also,
    even as among other gentiles
    15. 1 co 9.14 even so hath the Lord ordained that they which preach the gospel should
    live of the gospel.
    16. gal 1.5 but when it pleased God, who separated me from my mothers womb, and
    called me by his grace,
    17. eph 2.10 for we are his workmanship, created in christ jesus unto good works,
which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
    18. jas 3.18 and the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.
    19. acts 20.24 but none of these things move me, neither count i my life dear unto
myself, so that i might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which i have
received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.
    20. ac 20.28 take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which
the Holy Spirit hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath
    purchased with his own blood.
    21. rom 15.4 For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our
learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.
    22. 2 pe 3. 14 wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent
that ye may found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.
    23. jn 14.13 and whatsovever ye shall ask in my name, that will i do, that the father
may be glorified in the son. vs 14 if ye shall ask any thing in my name i will do it
    24. mat 21.22 and all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall
    receive.
    25. jn 16.24 hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive
that your joy may be full.
