Daily Bible Nugget #87, Revelation 3:20

The Nugget:

Revelation 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

My Comment:

After reading all the Bible plan of salvation memory verses on my list, this last passage in the series expresses the idea that Christ is knocking at the door. If you have heard His voice through His word, you are promised that if you will hear and open the door, He will come in to your life and have fellowship with you. This is symbolic language, taken from the book of Revelation, itself a highly symbolic book. Not all are agreed as to the meaning of many of the symbols in the book of Revelation. But I believe it is legitimate to use this verse to illustrate that Jesus is awaiting our response to Him.

For those who desire to DIG DEEPER into this subject:

(1) Consult the cross references given in Nelson’s Cross Reference Guide to the Bible on pages 1493-1494 for Revelation 3:20.

(2) Consult the cross references given in The New Treasury of Scripture Knowledge on page 1510 or in Logos 5 Bible software for Revelation 3:20.

(3) Lacking access to those two resources, consult the cross references for this passage as I have developed them as given below:

One Response to Daily Bible Nugget #87, Revelation 3:20

  1. ken sagely says:

1 jn 1.7 the blood of jesus christ his son cleanseth us from all sin.

rev 3.20 behold, i stand at the door and knock; if any man hear my
voice, and open the door, i will come in to him, and will sup with
    him, and he with me.

the cross references were of great encouragement to me. that jesus
christ the son of god would come to die for me on the cross for my
sins and desire to come into my heart and fellowship with me
he is my “personal” saviour how i thankful for that!
    1. jn 14-21 he that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it
is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my father,
and i will love him, and will manifest myself to him.
    2. jn 14.23 jesus answered and said unto him, if a man love me, he will
keep my words: and my father will love him, and we will come unto him,
and make our abode with him.
3 . jn 10.27 my sheep hear voice, and i know them, and they follow me:
    4. mt 18.20 for where two or three are gathered together in my name, there
i am in the midst of them.
    5. rev 19.9 blessed are they which are called unto marriage supper of the lamb.
    6. lk 12.37 blessed are those servants, whom the lord when he cometh shall find
watching: verily i say unto you, that he shall gird himself, and make them to sit
down to meat, and will come forth and serve them.

rev 1.5,6 unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood
…. to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. amen.
