Daily Bible Nugget #51, Romans 5:12

The Nugget:

Romans 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

My Comment:

Here is a New Testament verse that states that all have sinned. It also tells us the consequence of sin entering the world by one man, Adam. Death passed upon all men. In all likelihood, the “death” mentioned in this verse is a reference to spiritual death. Adam and Eve did not die physically the very day they sinned in the garden of Eden. Rather, they immediately experienced spiritual death, as evidenced by their immediate estrangement from God, witnessed by the fact that they attempted to hide from Him. The death God threatened was two-fold: immediate spiritual death, and imminent physical death. In any case, we are all dead spiritually until we receive the gift of eternal life by believing on Jesus Christ. If you who may read this are not sure that you now have everlasting life in Christ, I trust you will continue reading and even memorizing these verses about salvation. Once you have read and understood them all, you will know if you are saved if you don’t know already, and you will know what to do to be saved. That knowledge, once you have it, can be used of God to help you win others to a saving knowledge of Christ.

One Response to Daily Bible Nugget #51, Romans 5:12

  1. ken sagely says:

rom 5.12 w4, as one man sin entered the world, and death by sin; and so death passed
upon all men, for that all have sinned: gods estimate of humanity is summed up in one
word” lost” it means man is estranged from god by his sin and is lost to god. although
the frightening state of affairs arouses little concern upon earth, it moved all heaven
from whence came the saviour”to seek and save that which was lost” lk 19.10
there are several cross refs in my understanding of this verse of mans disobedience
    1. psm 51.4 against thee, thee only, have i sinned, and done this evil in thy sight; that
thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest
    2. rom 8.7-8 because the carnal mind is enmity against god; for it is not subject to
the law of god, neither can it be.vs 8 so then they that are in the flesh cannot please
    god.
    3. i jn 3.4 whosoever committeh sin transgresseth also the law; for sin is the trans
    gression of the law.
    4. gen 3.6 she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat; and gave also unto her husband
with her, and he did eat.
    5. gen 2.17 in the day thou eastest thereof thou shalt surely die.
    6. rom 6.23 the wages of sin is death; but the gift of god is eternal life
    through jesus christ our lord.
    7. i cor 15.21 by man came death, and by man came also the resurrection of the
    dead.

psm 50.23 whoso offereth praise glorifieth me; and to him that ordereth
his conversation aright will show the salvation of god.
