Jesus is the Final Prophet

10-19-23 Jesus is the Final Prophet

The Nugget:

Mat 24:11  And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.

My Comment:

Jesus warned us to “Take heed that no man deceive you” in Matthew 24:4. He warned that “many false prophets shall arise and deceive many” in Matthew 24:11. The writer of Hebrews tells us that God has spoken with finality by His Son in Hebrews 1:2. Therefore, any person who claims to be a divinely inspired Prophet with new revelation from God since Jesus must be a false prophet.

The Muslim Challenge:

Top 100 Reasons, Reason 31, Jesus Was Never Crucified, Killed, Died For Others

The Disciples Of Jesus Were Not The Eyewitnesses Of The Unknown Crucifixion, That’s Why They Oppose One Another About it (The Crucifixion)

Mark 14:50 Then all his disciples deserted him and ran away.

– Christians say ‘prophet Muhammad (PBUH) came 500 years later after Jesus ascension, he didn’t take time with Jesus, he haven’t seen, met him (Jesus), but the disciples witnessed the crucifixion, they saw, met and take time with Jesus so we believe what the eyewitnesses narrated for us

– At the same time Christians quote from the old testament and believe what the prophets said about Jesus despite they haven’t seen, met and took time with him, clear double standard

– Additionally, the disciples ran away and they were not with Jesus after he was captured by the enemies, (Jews and Roman soldiers) as Mark 14:50 indicates, yet they blindly believe what the disciples said about the crucifixion, double standard. They believe what Paul, Luke and Mark said about Jesus, they haven’t seen and met Jesus nor took time with him and Christians believe what they said about Jesus but disbelieve what prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said about him, double standard

– In addition to that, the last time the disciples saw Jesus was after he was captured, they didn’t see him until after two nights and one day, which means they didn’t know what happened to him after they ran away as they witnessed nothing

– The disciples themselves disagree when was Jesus crucified, was it before the Passover or after ? John 19:14 stated that it was before the Passover meal, but Mark 14:12-25, Matthew 26:17-29, Luke 22:7-22 all said he was crucified after the Passover, John himself disagree with himself in John 13:1-30

– They also disagree who carried the cross, was it Jesus himself or Simon of Cyrene? John 19:17 stated that Jesus himself carried his cross, whereas Mark 15:21 stated that Simon of Cyrene was forced to carry the cross. The disciples disagree in many things about the crucifixion, these are just examples,

– According to Christians, the disciples are the eyewitnesses of eveything about Jesus and they disagree about the crucifixion. Christians who do you believe ?

If John and Mark weren’t with Jesus after the enemies captured him, how did they know whether Jesus or Simon of Cyrene carried the cross?

– All the disciples ran away after Jesus was captured, they talked about things that they never witnessed, Christians believe blindly whatever they said about the crucifixion, despite they lied and oppose one another and themselves, there is no eyewitnesses for the unknown crucifixion, it’s all about fantasy and hallucination (Matthew 26:64)

The truth has come and falsehood has vanished, indeed falsehood is a vanish thing!

My Response to the Muslim Challenge:

Contrary to your final statement, falsehood is not a vanishing thing but a multiplying enemy and an affront to the truth of the genuine Gospel of Christ taught in the New Testament.

I believe you are quite mistaken on many points.

For example, you state:

“If John and Mark weren’t with Jesus after the enemies captured him, how did they know whether Jesus or Simon of Cyrene carried the cross?”

As for who carried the cross, it is obvious to careful readers of the New Testament record that Jesus, though already exhausted by the severe and violent treatment he just received, was able to carry the cross part of the way, but Simon of Cyrene was commandeered to carry it the rest of the way.

Who witnessed that part of the record of what was done?

First, we are told that a group of women who had supported Jesus financially witnessed the crucifixion.

Second, we know that Mary the mother of Jesus was at the cross and witnessed the crucifixion.

Third, we know that Simon of Cyrene was visiting Jerusalem for the Passover and was far from his home (about 800 miles) in Cyrene in North Africa. But that his name is specifically entered into the New Testament record indicates he became well known in the Christian community, as his sons, Alexander and Rufus, are named by Mark in his Gospel in Mark 15:21, and Rufus is greeted by name by Paul in Romans 16:13.

Fourth, that Mark was personally witness to at least part of the events the night Jesus was apprehended is evident by the fact Mark includes the account of his narrow escape from the scene (Mark 14:50-52), an embarrassing incident that would hardly have been included if it were not true.

Fifth, both John and Peter were witnesses to the legal proceedings taken against Jesus.

Sixth, the Apostle John was present at the cross when Jesus died. While on the cross Jesus gave John charge to care for Mary, his mother.

You are basically correct when you state:

“- Christians say ‘prophet Muhammad (PBUH) came 500 years later after Jesus ascension, he didn’t take time with Jesus, he haven’t seen, met him (Jesus), but the disciples witnessed the crucifixion, they saw, met and take time with Jesus so we believe what the eyewitnesses narrated for us.”

Muhammed is an Islamic prophet who came on the scene 500 years after the fact. He certainly was not an eye witness of the events surrounding the crucifixion and death of our Lord Jesus Christ on the cross of Calvary. He had no contact with anyone who was actually there on the scene at the time these events took place. What he does report about these events does not agree with the historical record as it is contained in the 27 primary source first century historical documents which now form our New Testament.

You further state:

“- Additionally, the disciples ran away and they were not with Jesus after he was captured by the enemies, (Jews and Roman soldiers) as Mark 14:50 indicates, yet they blindly believe what the disciples said about the crucifixion, double standard. They believe what Paul, Luke and Mark said about Jesus, they haven’t seen and met Jesus nor took time with him and Christians believe what they said about Jesus but disbelieve what prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said about him, double standard”

You are not correct in your claim that Paul, Luke, and Mark haven’t seen and met Jesus nor taken time with him. Paul met Jesus in person on the Damascus Road, and this encounter with Jesus Himself radically transformed Paul from a violent persecutor of Christians to a powerful preacher of the Gospel of Christ who was personally commissioned by Jesus Himself to be His Apostle (Acts 9:15). Luke was in a position to carefully interview those who had been eye witnesses of the things he records in his Gospel record. Mark was a young man in whose home the disciples and Jesus met in Jerusalem besides being in the company of Paul and Barnabas on their first missionary trip and later an assistant to Peter.

Jesus gave careful and severe warning to His followers not to be deceived by those who would afterward come with false claims:

Mat 24:4  And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.

Mat 24:11  And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.

There are no legitimate Prophets who are to come after our Lord Jesus Christ, for He is the Final Prophet, as confirmed by the Greek grammar underlying our English translations of Hebrews 1:2,

Hebrews 1:2  Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;

The expression “spoken unto us by his Son” uses for the verb “spoken” the aorist tense, indicative mood, third person singular verb. This means that this divine revelation was final because made by one who in all He is and does reveals the Father.

Any supposed Prophets after our Lord Jesus Christ are therefore condemned as false prophets.
