Daily Bible Nugget #693, Isaiah 26:9

The Nugget:

Isa 26:9  With my soul have I desired thee in the night; yea, with my spirit within me will I seek thee early: for when thy judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness.

My Comment:

From what I read and see in the news, it appears that almost no one is seriously reading and studying the Bible for themselves.

I shared this verse, Isaiah 26:9, last month in a post titled “Daily Bible Nugget #689, Isaiah 26:9.” In that  post I shared the information I have placed for that verse in my resource, The Ultimate Cross Reference Treasury. I began with just the first key words and reference to Topic Number 1392:

Isaiah 26:9
With my. T1392, 2Sa 23:5. Psa 42:1, 2; Psa 143:6.

I pointed out that Topic Number 1392 refers to “With the soul, Isa 26:9.” I shared that this has reference to just one of more than a hundred Spiritual Conditions of Prayer, and pointed out that these form a marvelous series of studies. The actual complete list is best seen in the print version of my book, The New Treasury of Scripture Knowledge. Unfortunately, my book has been out of print since about 1999, so getting your hands on a used copy now costs more than new copies once did. I just shared the full list of the “Spiritual Conditions of Prayer” in my recent post, “Daily Bible Nugget #692, John 15:7.” At least for now, you can access this full list here until the new print edition of The New Treasury of Scripture Knowledge becomes available in 2023.

When I chose Isaiah 26:9 for a “Daily Bible Nugget,” I had in mind the fact that it states the remedy for correcting the evil conditions that in some ways now seem to be growing worse. That remedy is stated in the words:

“for when thy judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness.”

The very literal meaning of “thy judgments” reflects some very unpleasant consequences that present evil doing will bring, both in the here and now, as well as hereafter.

Before then, we each can take care to put or keep our “own house” in order by earnestly obeying Hebrews 12:14,

Heb 12:14  Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:

I must have explored Hebrews 12:14 here before. It is a most important verse. When the Bible declares that without holiness, no person shall see the Lord, we ought to sit up and take notice! It might be well to explore just what holiness is.

I will see if I can find and  post a link here to any previous study of Hebrews 12:14 that I have placed on this site.

Here is a link to my eight-part series explaining Hebrews 12:14 using the great hymn, “Take Time to be Holy”:
