Sharpen your focus

Proverbs and Quotations

“One of the gravest perils which besets the ministry is a restless scattering of energies over an amazing multiplicity of interests which leaves no margin of time and of strength for receptive and absorbing communion with God.” Andrew Bonar

My Comment:

I share this quotation at the beginning of this new year and decade to alert us all of the danger of being too distracted from important things by things less important.

I learned early in my teaching career and in my participation in church activities that it is possible to spread myself too thin. I decided on a simple solution to reduce this problem: commit to doing the things I can do that others usually cannot, and let others do the things they can do rather than having me do them.

Now that I am retired from teaching, the problem persists! I must prioritize and focus on the most important things to do and the most important things to learn.
