Daily Bible Nugget #264, Psalm 119:148

The Nugget:

Psalm 119:148 Mine eyes prevent the night watches, that I might meditate in thy word. (KJV)

Psa 119:148 I lie awake at night, thinking of your promises. (CEV)

My Comment:

Saints meditate in the Scriptures (The New Topical Textbook, subheading under main heading “The Scriptures,” page 240). Instead of counting sheep, the Psalmist meditated upon God’s Word found in the Bible. No doubt if he awoke during the night, or woke up early, he did the same. True saints–ordinary people who believe the Bible–find pleasure and encouragement as they read God’s Word repeatedly, and then make God’s Word from the Bible a part of their thinking. Surely the example of the Psalmist is a good example to follow.

For those who desire to DIG DEEPER into this subject:

(1) Consult the cross references given in Nelson’s Cross Reference Guide to the Bible on page 634 for Psalm 119:148.

(2) Consult the cross references given in The New Treasury of Scripture Knowledge on page 678 or in Logos 5 Bible software for Psalm 119:148.

(3) Lacking access to those two resources, consult the cross references for this passage as I have developed them as given below:
