Daily Bible Nugget #185, Psalm 119:49

The Nugget:

Psalm 119:49 Remember the word unto thy servant, upon which thou hast caused me to hope.

My Comment:

The Scriptures are designed for producing hope. For those who will read them, the Scriptures will produce hope. The Psalmist read his Bible, and experienced that the Word of God and its promises were the foundation of his hope. Many people are searching for hope, and seeking encouragement. The source is “right under your nose,” available to and for everyone in the Bible. Once you come to understand that God does not go back on his promises, and once you come to understand “the plot” that God presents in the Bible, and understand the character and attributes of God, you will be unshakably encouraged. You will realize, as did Paul, that we do not base our hope on things that are seen, but unseen (2 Cor 4:18), and what God has in store for us who believe His word is more than we could ask or think (Ep 3:20). Isaiah told us that we have not seen anything yet, compared with what God ultimately has in store for us (Is 64:4; 1 Cor 2:9).
