Daily Bible Nugget #755, Proverbs 25:5

The Nugget:

My Comment:

This one verse–Proverbs 25:5–gives the solution to our present political problems and our current national crisis.

The so-called “powers that be” have taken to themselves authority which they do not legitimately possess. The United States of America is a Constitutional Republic, NOT a democracy. We are governed by the rule of law, not men. We now see the drastic results of moving away from the Constitution and the rule of law. Our illegitimate ruling authorities at all levels of government do not represent the people and the rule of law but an agenda to overturn our Constitutional Republic to make it a Marxist state ruled by the will of the “elite.”

The media no longer serve the Constitutional purpose of being a “watchdog” to report what is really going on, protected by the First Amendment. Rather, they serve as a unified and uniform mouthpiece for the agenda of the elite. They do not report the news so much as they mislead the public with their propaganda.

The Bible warns us not to be deceived by propaganda, whatever its source:

Pro 14:15  The simple believeth every word: but the prudent man looketh well to his going. (KJV)

Pro 14:15  A gullible person believes anything, but a sensible person watches his step. (GW)
Pro 14:18  Gullible people are gifted with stupidity, but sensible people are crowned with knowledge. (GW)

Pro 14:15 Don’t be stupid and believe all you hear; be smart and know where you are headed. (CEV)

It has been admitted in reports in some media that the FBI has been engaged in a continuing effort to prevent President Trump from being effective during his term as President by spreading lies via the media about him and his supporters. They are still doing this. Currently, false charges and invalid indictments are their continuing attempt to be sure he cannot be elected again.

The legal system has been turned on its head: a person is now guilty until proven innocent. The January 6th event is now labeled as an “insurrection,” and a “threat to our democracy,” when it is most certain it was nothing of the sort. I watched many hours of live video as the event took place from many different sources. Yet even today, hundreds of innocent, patriotic attendees who were merely peacefully present on the scene are still housed in jails with no charges filed against them, political prisoners of the “deep state.”

Parents who attend local school board meetings to protest the introduction of “critical race theory” and the imposition of the Sodomite agenda upon their children have been labeled “domestic terrorists.” The labels their accusers and detractors apply to these rightfully concerned parents reveal just what the accusers themselves are.

I noticed this week that there are those who plan to bring us a new, corrected Bible, a Bible that supports their agenda. Well, the Bible speaks directly to that!

Rev 22:18  For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:
Rev 22:19  And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

Anyone who promotes the “green agenda” and who claims we have a climate change crisis because of man-made carbon dioxide increases in the atmosphere is utterly ignorant of actual science. Plants need carbon dioxide just like we need oxygen. Plants thrive when more carbon dioxide is in the atmosphere, and grow more luxuriously. To have improved crop yields, increase the available carbon dioxide.

How about those forest fires? They are the result of the ignorant and absurd “green agenda,” an agenda that has prevented well-known good forestry management practices from being followed. This has resulted in vast quantities of smoke and pollutants entering our atmosphere.

To suppose that moving to EV’s–electric vehicles–is a good idea is nonsense. Those who promote such ideas are ignorant of physics. Electric vehicles will never be as efficient as the current gas powered vehicles we have today. The rare earth minerals required to create the batteries for such vehicles are in very short supply. To suppose we can power the electric grid with solar panels and windmills is nonsense. Such “green energy” resources are costly, inefficient, and sometimes may not work if the wind does not blow or the sun doesn’t shine.

In the United States, coal-powered electric plants are being “retired” before alternative power sources are brought on line to replace them. We have a very abundant supply of coal. But the ignorant “powers that be” have their own disruptive agenda that is certainly not based on any knowledge of the laws of physics. They are actually destroying earth’s resources as they create their “build back better” solutions. God explicitly states that He will “destroy them that destroy the earth” in both the Old Testament and the New. I look forward to that!

Daily Bible Nugget #754, John 17:3

The Nugget:

Joh 17:3  Eternal life means to know and experience you as the only true God, and to know and experience Jesus Christ, as the Son whom you have sent. (TPT, The Passion Translation)

My Comment:

One of the most misread verses in the Bible is John 17:3.

Joh 17:3  And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. (KJV)

Joh 17:3 Now eternal life means knowing you as the only true God and knowing Jesus your messenger as Christ. (Williams NT)

Jesus in His prayer to His Father, in asserting that the Father is the only true God, does not exclude Himself from or deny His own deity!

To argue that Jesus does just that is to fail to read John 17:3 in its immediate, near, related, and remote contexts. This denial of the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ is not the subject of this prayer!

To argue that Jesus attributes Deity to His Father exclusively and alone is a logical misreading of John 17:3 for this text does not apply the word “only” to the Father but to God.

Jesus is AFFIRMING that the Father is the only true God but Jesus is not excluding Himself from the category of true deity.

Notice that the word “ONLY” is mistakenly and illogically understood to apply to the FATHER. But nowhere in this text is the word ONLY applied to the word Father so as to say “ONLY the Father is the true God.” Therefore, to so understand John 17:3 to state this falsehood is clearly a mistaken reading of this text, and this argument is thus utterly refuted.‬‬‬‬‬

My Comment:

It is essential to spiritual growth that we read and study the Bible enough (at least 20 minutes a day) often enough (no less than four days a week) to experience the change God desires to work in our lives. Start by reading through the New Testament several times. It will change your life for the better!

Daily Bible Nugget #752, John 10:10

My Comment:

In my prior post I stated:

Restated more generally,

To access the more abundant life Jesus promised:

spend time enough (no less than 20 minutes a day)

often enough (no less than four days a week, according to modern research)

reading, studying, and re-reading the New Testament for yourself,

asking God to open your eyes to see the truth,

asking God to open your heart to the Lord Jesus Christ,

and asking God to renew your mind to cleanse it from all unrighteousness.

 

Think about this carefully.

Following this advice will change your life for all eternity.

Daily Bible Nugget #751, 1 Corinthians 12:26

1Co 12:26  And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it.

My Comment:

This verse was quoted by the United States President yesterday in support of a movement he favors but which the Bible does not.

Beware when politicians piously quote Scripture when they themselves demonstrate they know nothing about the Bible but stand and act against it and those who believe it.

Even demons know the truth about Jesus, and spoke the truth about Him, but Jesus “suffered them not to speak: for they knew that he was Christ” (Luke 4:41).

Luke 4:41
41  And devils also came out of many, crying out, and saying, Thou art Christ the Son of God. And he rebuking them suffered them not to speak: for they knew that he was Christ.

Psalms 50:16
16  But unto the wicked God saith, What hast thou to do to declare my statutes, or that thou shouldest take my covenant in thy mouth?

I would remind Bible reading, Bible studying Christians never to be fooled into supporting unbiblical causes (2 Chronicles 19:2) by those who misquote the Bible in support of them.

Using 1 Corinthians 12:26 in the manner the President did violated the rule of immediate context, as is immediately evident when considering the connection it has with the verse before and after it:

1Co 12:25  That there should be no schism in the body; but that the members should have the same care one for another.
1Co 12:26  And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it.
1Co 12:27  Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.

The verse (1 Corinthians 12:26) concerns the care (Romans 15:7) members of the body of Christ are to have for one another.

Using 1 Corinthians 12:26 to promote support for a so-called “gay pride month” directly violates what Paul taught in the very same letter at 1 Corinthians 6:9, 10, where Paul wrote that anyone who participates in this abominable life style will never inherit the Kingdom of God:

1Co 6:9  Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,
1Co 6:10  Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. (KJV)

More  plainly in modern English:

1Co 6:9 Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived! The sexually immoral, idolaters, adulterers, passive homosexual partners, practicing homosexuals,
1Co 6:10 thieves, the greedy, drunkards, the verbally abusive, and swindlers will not inherit the kingdom of God. (NET Bible)

There are no genuine Christians who practice this lifestyle. They have been delivered from this evil by the power of the Gospel of Christ, by the power of the blood of Christ, and by the power of the Holy Spirit in their life:

1Co 6:11 Some of you once lived this way. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God. (NET Bible)

Daily Bible Nugget #750, Proverbs 11:2

My Comment:

I post verses in several English translations because each translation adds insight for English readers present in the underlying original text of the Bible. No single translation can convey all the depth of riches to be found in the original language. Some translations may be the product of translators with whom we otherwise have good reason to disagree. Nevertheless, sometimes even they shed light on the underlying meaning of the text that others may have missed. So the first step in quickly accessing the meaning of a Bible verse is to read it in what I call “distinctive translations.” These are translations which by their unique word choices bring out the meaning of a text more fully.

The second step in understanding a text in the Bible is to interpret a verse in the light of its immediate, its near, its related, and its distant contexts. This includes carefully following the flow of thought in a passage. I demonstrated this at considerable length in a recent post regarding John 17:3. But in the book of Proverbs, there often is no basis for following the immediate context principle of interpretation because individual proverbs are often unique gems of truth stated without reference to the immediate context.

The third step in understanding a text in the Bible is to interpret the verse in the light of what the rest of the Bible tells us about the subjects mentioned in the verse. To do this, we make use of cross reference Bible study. If you have not spent much if any time carefully consulting the cross references given for Bible verses of interest to you, you have been missing a whole new dimension of effective Bible study and understanding!

Yesterday, I encountered Proverbs 11:2 in my study of the Bible text for Proverbs 25:5 which I used for yesterday’s Daily Bible Nugget post. I discovered that the cross references given for Proverbs 11:2 could be improved. So I reorganized the cross references to better fit the key words in the verse and added the reciprocal references and some additional references never given before.

My Comment:

Though the Bible was written long ago, its wisdom is still much needed today.

Proverbs 25:5, especially when read in multiple translations, looks to me like it is very pertinent to recent and contemporary political issues.

We must be very careful who we support for elective office! We must be very careful to supervise the education our children receive.

2 Chronicles 19:2

Daily Bible Nugget #748, 1 Timothy 2:5

The Nugget:

My Comment:

There are some who believe it is right to pray to the saints in heaven, asking them to intercede on our behalf.

This is, from a correct Bible interpretation view, a totally mistaken practice.

I find Isaiah 63:16 to be a passage that relates to the issue of saints in heaven being aware of us or our specific prayers–plainly, they are not:

Isaiah 63:16
16  Doubtless thou art our father, though Abraham be ignorant of us, and Israel acknowledge us not: thou, O LORD, art our father, our redeemer; thy name is from everlasting.
King James Version

Isa 63:16 For you are our father, though Abraham has no knowledge of us, and Israel gives no thought to us: you, O Lord, are our father; from the earliest days you have taken up our cause. (BBE, Bible in Basic English)

Isa 63:16  You are our Father. Even though Abraham doesn’t know us and Israel doesn’t pay attention to us, O LORD, you are our Father. Your name is our Defender From Everlasting. (GW, God’s Word translation)

If neither Abraham nor Jacob (Israel) have any “knowledge of us” and have no “thought of us,” it would appear that no other human beings in heaven do either.

The Scripture clearly declares that our Lord Jesus Christ is in heaven interceding for us (1 Timothy 2:5):

the man. A straightforward reading of this text indicates that Jesus is still a man, even while He is now in heaven. The Jehovah’s Witness doctrine that Jesus Christ is the archangel Michael (1Th 4:16 note), and is no longer a man, directly contradicts this declaration of Paul that Jesus is still a man, not an angel (Heb 1:4, 5, 6; Heb 2:16), though now in heaven as our one mediator. The Jehovah’s Witnesses further demonstrate their lack of Bible understanding when they argue that Jesus is no longer a man with a human nature, for, they argue, Jesus can never return as a man in his human body, for that would be to take his sacrifice back, and invalidate the Atonement He accomplished. Such a view on their part shows their ignorance of this Scripture, where Paul distinctly refers to Jesus as “the man Christ Jesus.” Jehovah’s Witnesses are clearly ignorant of the provisions of the Davidic Covenant (2Sa 7:10 note, 2Sa 7:19, 1Ch 17:17) which require that David’s Seed, the Messiah, the man, called the Son of Man (+*Psa 80:17), be a man (1Co 15:47), who by resurrection (Rom 1:4, 2Ti 2:8), will live forever and will return to this earth to rule upon the Throne of David (Isa 9:6, 7, Luk 1:32, 33, Act 2:30) here on (not above or over, Rev 5:10) this earth forever, not merely 1000 years (Dan 7:13, 14, Rev 11:15), to rule the earth from Jerusalem (Isa 24:23) as a man still possessed of his humanity (Act 2:31), visible in the very body (Luk 24:39, Joh 2:19, 20, 21, 22, Act 1:11) in which he arose (Joh 1:51, Php 3:21, 1Jn 3:2). +*Psa 80:17 note. +*Jer 23:5; +*Jer 23:6, +*Zec 13:7, +*Mat 1:23, *Luk 2:10; *Luk 2:11, *Joh 1:14; Joh 8:40, +Rom 1:3, **1Co 15:45, 46, 47, +*Php 2:6, 7, 8, Heb 2:6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, **1Jn 3:3 note. Let The Weary Taste God’s Mercy!

The Nugget:

Psa 34:6  This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles.

My Comment:

Psalm 34:6 meant much to me as I forged ahead with my project to produce the New Treasury of Scripture Knowledge after my dreadful experience of being shot in the teachers’ parking lot at the back of Southeastern High School. I was off from teaching for the next nearly five years. During that time I typed the text of the New Treasury.

Once the New Treasury of Scripture Knowledge was  published in 1992, I soon  received a letter of thanks for my work from Ken Sagely. We’ve been in touch ever since. Ken is the person who suggested the idea of posting daily Bible nuggets here. I have not been able to post them daily, but I’ve posted quite a few so far. Ken has given me permission to post his Facebook Bible messages here. Just now as I am busier with outdoor tasks like helping my wife plant and now water the garden, Ken’s contributions here have been helpful to me.

Let The Weary Taste God’s Mercy!

PSALM 34.8 O taste and see that the Lord is good; How blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him!

PSALM 36.7 How precious is Your Lovingkindness, O God! And the children of men take refuge in the shadow of Your wings. 8 They drink their fill of the abundance of Your house; And You give them to drink of the river of your delights.

Misreading Hebrews 6:1-3

Muslim Claim:

BIBLE: THE ANTI-CHRIST AND HIS FOLLOWERS ACCORDING TO JESUS

Pharisee Saul/Paul instructed those abiding in the Doctrine of Jesus, to abandon the Doctrine of Jesus and embrace his doctrine of Maturity and Perfection aka Christianity:

Hebrews 6:1-3

1 Therefore let us leave the Principles of the Doctrine of Christ, and let us go on unto Maturity and Perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God,

2 Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment.

3 And this will we do, if God permit.”

HEBREWS 6:1-3

TAKE NOTE:

Jesus Christ said: Paul and his followers alias Christians are the ANTI CHRIST and they hath neither Jesus Christ nor God; and their WORSHIP is VAIN !!!

 

My Counter-claim:

This is an excellent example of how to misread the Bible!

Reading the Bible in a clearer modern English translation can lead to a more correct understanding:

Heb 6:1  We must try to become mature and start thinking about more than just the basic things we were taught about Christ. We shouldn’t need to keep talking about why we ought to turn from deeds that bring death and why we ought to have faith in God.

Heb 6:2  And we shouldn’t need to keep teaching about baptisms or about the laying on of hands or about people being raised from death and the future judgment.

Heb 6:3  Let’s grow up, if God is willing. (CEV, Contemporary English Version)

Reading the immediately preceding context confirms that the author of Hebrews is not advocating any abandonment of the doctrine of Christ but rather is concerned to correct the lack of spiritual growth in his readers who have failed to move beyond the basics of their faith. This lack of spiritual growth in Christian maturity results from spiritual stagnation caused by failure to move on to learn and experience the deeper truths of God’s divine revelation contained in Scripture:

Heb 5:11  Much more could be said about this subject. But it is hard to explain, and all of you are slow to understand.

Heb 5:12  By now you should have been teachers, but once again you need to be taught the simplest things about what God has said. You need milk instead of solid food.

Heb 5:13  People who live on milk are like babies who don’t really know what is right.

Heb 5:14  Solid food is for mature people who have been trained to know right from wrong. (CEV)
