Daily Bible Nugget #163, Psalm 119:140

The Nugget:

Psa 119:140 Thy word is very pure: therefore thy servant loveth it.

My Comment:

The Scriptures are described as pure. This is a truth that is repeated in the Bible several times. The Psalmist, as God’s servant, says that this is why he loves God’s Word. We ought to follow his example and develop a deeper love for the Bible. I used to tell my students in public high school who somewhat disdained reading great literature at first that the way to come to like it is to learn more about it and spend more time reading it. The same is true about developing a love for the Bible. It is generally true that the more we know about a subject, the greater our interest in that subject.

For those who desire to DIG DEEPER into this subject:

(1) Consult the cross references given in Nelson’s Cross Reference Guide to the Bible on page 633 for Psalm 119:140.

(2) Consult the cross references given in The New Treasury of Scripture Knowledge on page 677 or in Logos 5 Bible software for Psalm 119:140.

(3) Lacking access to those two resources, consult the cross references for this passage as I have developed them as given below:
