Proverbs 6:23 For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life:
My Comment:
The Scriptures are an unerring guide. The commandment is a lamp. It can therefore make it possible for you to see where you are going. The law is a light. It will not leave you in darkness. The correction and self control the Bible motivates and provides will lead you through life. But if the Scriptures are an unerring guide, why is it that so many disagree about what the Bible teaches? If the Bible is so understandable, why are there so many denominations? I suggest that such differences result from readers not following the rules of interpretation I have shared in the October 2010 archive here. If individuals or denominations misread the Bible, that is hardly the Bible’s fault. More individuals and churches and whole denominations need to engage in Real Bible Study. Among the very first subjects which should be made a priority study is the subject I have been sharing regarding what the Bible says about itself. When the Bible is allowed to assume its rightful place in your thinking and in your life it will indeed prove to be an unerring guide.
