Daily Bible Nugget #72, Romans 5:8

The Nugget:

Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

My Comment:

It is because God loves us that Christ died for us, even while we were yet sinners. This means Christ died for all, not just for some. This means Christ died for you. That is God’s provision. The provision is clearly for all. But the benefit of that provision is reserved for those who will hear, believe, and come to Christ.

For those who desire to DIG DEEPER into this subject:

rom 5.8 but god commendeth his own love toward us, in that, while we
were yet sinners, christ died for us.

some special words from the hymn ” the old rugged cross”
“on a hill faraway stood an old rugged cross, the emblem of
suff’ring and shame; and i love that old cross where the dearest
and best for a world of lost sinners was slain. so i will cherish the
old rugged cross, till my trophies at last lay down; i will cling to
the old rugged cross, and exchange it some day for a crown.”

share some favorite cross refs for this verse.
    1. jn 15.13 greater love hath no man than this, that a man

2.eph 1.7 in whom we have redemption through his blood,
the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his
    grace;
    3. ep 2.7 that in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding
riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through christ jesus.
    4. 1 pe 3.18 for christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for
the unjust, that he might bring us to god, being put to death in the
flesh, but quickened by the spirit:
    5. 1 jn 4.9-10 in this was manifested the love of god toward us, because
that god sent his only begotten son into the world, that we might live
through him. vs 10 herein is love, not that we loved god, but that he
loved us, and sent his son to be the propitiation for our sins.
