Why did Jesus come?

The Nugget:

Luke 19:10  For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.

From Ken Sagely’s Facebook Post:

Blessed Be the Name / Christmas Day!

All praise to Him who reigns above
in majesty supreme, who gave His Son for man
to die, that He might redeem!

Why did Jesus come? why was he born in manger
in Bethlehem?

The Bible tells He came for 3 reasons:

1. To demonstrate God’s Love for us

1 John 4.9-10 In this was manifested
the love of God toward us , because that God sent
his only begotten Son into the world, that we might
live through him. 10. Herein is love, not that we loved
God, but that He loved us, and sent His Son to be
the propitiation (sacrifice) for our sins.

2. To Save from sins

Matthew 1.21 And she shall bring forth a son , and
thou shalt call his name Jesus: for He shall Save
people from their sins.

Luke 19.10 For the Son of man
is come to seek and save that which was lost.

Mark 10.45 For even the Son of Man came not to be
ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a
ransom for many.

3. To Destroy the Works of the Devil

1 John 3.8 He that committeth sin is of the devil,
for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For
this purpose the Son of God was manifested,

Colossians 2.15
And having spoiled principalities and powers he
made a show of them openly triumphing over them
in it.

A MIGHTY FORTRESS
A mighty fortress is our God, a bulwark never failing
our helper He amid the flood of mortal ills prevailing .
For still our ancient foe doth seek to work us woe–
His craft and pow’r are great, and armed with cruel
hate on earth is not his equal
DID we in our own strength confide our striving would
be losing, were not the right Man on our side, the Man of
God’s own choosing. Dost ask who that may be?
Christ Jesus, It is He—Lord Sabaoth His name, from

age to age same–and He must win the Battle.

That He might destroy the works of the devil:

Hebrews 2.14 For as much then as the children are
partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise
took part of the same; that through death he might
destroy him that had the power of death, that is,
devil;
