The sign of Jonah disproves the crucifixion

8-18-23 The sign of Jonah disproves the crucifixion

My Comment:

Notice the Muslim poster added the word “alive” to the Bible texts. Adding to Scripture invalidates the Muslim claim!

The Muslim Claim:

Re: SIGN OF JONAS BY JESUS CHRIST DEBUNKED CRUCIFIXION

When he was asked for a sign – a prophecy, Jesus gave a sign – a prophecy of Jonas:

Matthew 12:38-40

38 For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.

39 Then certain of the Scribes and of the Pharisees answered, saying, Master, we would see a sign from thee.

40 For as Jonas was three (3) days and three (3) nights alive in the belly of a huge fish, so the son of man will be three (3) days and three (3) nights alive in the heart of the earth”.

MATHEW 12:38-40

Though a giant fish swallowed him, Jonas was alive in the belly of the giant fish for three days and three nights alive:

Jonah 1:1-17

17 Now the LORD had prepared a great fish to swallow up Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the Fish For Three Days And Three Nights Alive.”

JONAH 1:17

While alive in the belly of the fish, Jonah earnestly prayed unto God and he was saved:

Jonah 2:1-10

1 Then Jonah prayed unto the LORD his God out of the fish’s belly,

2 And said, I cried by reason of mine affliction unto the LORD, and he heard me; out of the belly of hell cried I, and thou heardest my voice.

3 For thou hadst cast me into the deep, in the midst of the seas; and the floods compassed me about: all thy billows and thy waves passed over me.

4 Then I said, I am cast out of thy sight; yet I will look again toward thy holy temple.

5 The waters compassed me about, even to the soul: the depth closed me round about, the weeds were wrapped about my head.

6 I went down to the bottoms of the mountains; the earth with her bars was about me for ever: yet hast thou brought up my life from corruption, O LORD my God.

7 When my soul fainted within me I remembered the LORD: and my prayer came in unto thee, into thine holy temple.

8 They that observe lying vanities forsake their own mercy.

9 But I will sacrifice unto thee with the voice of thanksgiving; I will pay that that I have vowed. Salvation is of the LORD.

10 And the LORD spake unto the fish, and it vomited out Jonah upon the dry land.”

JONAH 2:1-10

Take Note:

Jonah Was In The Belly Of The Fish For Three Days And Three Nights Alive.

NOW:

To say the above Jesus’ prophecy of Jonas (Mathew 12:37-40) did not come to pass (failed), is to say Jesus is a FALSE and FAKE Prophet:

Deuteronomy 18:20-22

20 But the Prophet, which shall presume to speak a word in my name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or that shall speak in the name of other gods, even that prophet shall die.

21 And if thou say in thine heart, how shall we know the word which the LORD hath not spoken?

22 When a prophet speaketh in the name of the LORD, if the thing follows not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the LORD hath not spoken, but the Prophet hath spoken it presumptuously (falsely): thou shalt not be afraid of him”.

DEUTERONOMY 18:20-22

In one of his epistles, Paul enjoin Christians not to Despise Prophesying:

“Despise not Prophesyings.”

1 THESSALONIANS 5:20

YET;

The Disciples and all Christians, not only despises but completely rejected the prophecy- sign of Jonah by Jesus Christ.

Instead, Christians are boldly insisting that Jesus Christ died for 3 days and 3 nights, for atonement of their endless sins !!!

(Jesus lamentation in a Parable in Matthew 11:18-30)

Jesus Demonstrations To His Disciples At The Upper Chamber After The 3rd Day:

Luke 24:36-43

36 And as they thus spake, Jesus himself stood in the midst of them, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you.

37 But they were terrified and affrighted, and supposed that they had seen a spirit.

38 And he said unto them, Why are ye troubled? And why do thoughts arise in your hearts?

39 Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have.

40 And when he had thus spoken, he shewed them his hands and his feet.

41 And while they yet believed not for joy, and wondered, he said unto them, Have ye here any meat?

42 And they gave him a piece of a broiled fish, and of a honeycomb.

43 And he took it, and did eat before them”.

LUKE 24:36-43

Again as the disciples believed him not, Jesus asked one of them to:

“Reach hither thy finger and behold my hands; and reach hither and thrust it into my side; and be not faithless”

JOHN 20:27-36

“..for a spirit (resurrected body) has no flesh and bones as you see me have”. LUKE 24:39-43

By his above demonstrations, Jesus Christ proved beyond any doubt that:

  1. His Effectual Fervent Prayers Availeth Him Much
  2. He Survived An Accursed Death
  3. He Neither Died Nor Resurrect
  4. He Is Not A Spirit
  5. He Is Not A Ghost
  6. He Is A Living Human Not A Spook

Sadly, both the Disciples and Christians believed Jesus not !!!

(Jesus lamentation in a Parable in Matthew 11:18-30)

My Response (9-18-23):

I have checked 24 English Bible translations for Jonah 1:17 (in some translations this text is given as Jonah 2:1), and NOT ONE of them reads “for three days and three nights ALIVE.”

The same holds true for Matthew 12:40. Not one translation reads “three (3) days and three (3) nights ALIVE in the heart of the earth”.

Therefore, your argument is mistaken because it is based on a false claim regarding what the Bible in both the Old Testament and the New Testament states.

Jonah 1:17

17 Now the LORD had prepared a great fish to swallow up Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights.

King James Version

Matthew 12:40

40 For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale’s belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

King James Version

DM responded to me (8-19-23):

Then why don’t you worship the risen Jonas also?

My response to DM (8-19-23):

Because Jonah is a type or picture of the then yet future reality of the bodily resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. The fact that the Lord Jesus Christ is to be worshipped demonstrates conclusively His Deity.

DM replied (8-19-23):

“The fact that the Lord Jesus Christ is to be worshipped . . .” Does not demonstrate his divinity in any way, shape or form.

It merely demonstrates that you believe that nonsense.

My response to DM (8-19-23):

That may be your opinion, but what I have stated is firmly grounded in the facts recorded in the New Testament and the Bible as a whole.

DM replied (8-19-23):

Believe what you want, in reality it makes no difference to me.

But I’ll still be telling you the truth, and anybody else who asks.

My response to DM (8-20-23):

I made the claim:

“The fact that the Lord Jesus Christ is to be worshipped demonstrates conclusively His Deity.”

You denied the claim by mere assertion with no evidence.

Jesus Himself asserted:

Mat 4:10  Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

In the New Testament are many occasions where Jesus Christ accepted worship, including:

Mat 14:33  Then they that were in the ship came and worshipped him, saying, Of a truth thou art the Son of God.

Luke 24:52
52  And they worshipped him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy:
King James Version

If Jesus had rejected worship, as did the angel in the incident recorded about John in the book of Revelation, that would have proved Jesus to be just another man, a created being, to whom worship is not owed:

Revelation 19:10
10  And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.
King James Version

Revelation 22:8-9
8  And I John saw these things, and heard them. And when I had heard and seen, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel which shewed me these things.
9  Then saith he unto me, See thou do it not: for I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren the prophets, and of them which keep the sayings of this book: worship God.
King James Version

Yet the Bible records that even the angels are commanded to worship Christ:

Hebrews 1:6
6  And again, when he bringeth in the firstbegotten into the world, he saith, And let all the angels of God worship him.
King James Version

Jesus Himself clearly declared:

John 5:23
23  That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him.
King James Version

Just as the Father is owed divine worship, so Jesus is owed the same worship.

There is much more evidence in the Bible which supports my claim. I have shared enough of the evidence to establish my claim that this is what the Bible itself teaches.
