Daily Bible Nugget #758, Isaiah 3:9

The Nugget:

Isa 3:9  The shew of their countenance doth witness against them; and they declare their sin as Sodom, they hide it not. Woe unto their soul! for they have rewarded evil unto themselves. (KJV)

Isa 3:9 For the look on their faces bears witness against them; they proclaim their sin like Sodom; they do not hide it. Woe to them! For they have brought evil on themselves. (ESV)

Isa 3:9  The look on their faces will be held against them. They boast about their sins, which are like those of the people of Sodom. They don’t even bother to hide them. How horrible it will be for these people, because they have brought disaster on themselves. (GW)

My Comment:

Solomon in the first chapter of Proverbs gives the following advice:

Pro 1:10  My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not.

Based on this advice, we are warned not to get involved in the schemes and practices of the wicked and ungodly. This is explicitly stated at 2 Chronicles 19:2,

2Ch 19:2  And Jehu the son of Hanani the seer went out to meet him, and said to king Jehoshaphat, Shouldest thou help the ungodly, and love them that hate the LORD? therefore is wrath upon thee from before the LORD.

We are directed not to help the ungodly by supporting the causes they support or promote. We are to obey God rather than man, as Peter and the apostles said as recorded in Acts 5:29,

Act 5:29  Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.

Thus, disobeying the wicked commands of civil rulers is justifiable from Scripture itself. Just as I went on line to work on this post, I read a headline that reported that the Michigan House of Representatives just passed legislation requiring everyone to use the preferred pronouns when speaking to or of those in a now protected group or else face jail time and large fines for not doing so. I hope this nonsense dies in the Michigan Senate.

The Solution:

Share the truth of God’s Word with those in your circle of influence.

Encourage others to read the New Testament long enough (at least 20 minutes a day) often enough (at least four days a week) on a continuing basis to learn the answers to life’s questions and problems and experience positive spiritual and practical change in your life.
