Daily Bible Nugget #731, Psalm 42:8

The Nugget:

Psa 42:8  Yet the LORD will command his lovingkindness in the daytime, and in the night his song shall be with me, and my prayer unto the God of my life.

My Comment:

Psalm 42 is instructive in times of joy, trial, or difficulty. Jesus quoted from this Psalm (Psalm 42:6 is quoted in Matthew 26:38 as He is about to begin is prayer in Gethsemane; it is also cited in John 12:27).

Psalm 42.5 Why are you cast down , O my Soul ? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope Thou In God, for I shall yet Praise Him for the Help of His countenance.

Hope

therefore will I Hope in him.

Psalm 21.13 Be Thou exalted ,Lord, in Thine own strength:
so will we sing and Praise Thy Power.

1 Peter 1.6-7 Wherein you greatly rejoice, though now for a
season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold
temptations. vs 7 That the trial of your faith, being much
more precious than of gold that perisheth , though be
tried with fire, might be found unto Praise and Honour
and Glory at the Appearing of Jesus Christ.

Romans 5.3-5 And not only so, but we glory in tribulations
also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience, 4
And patience, experience; and experience, Hope: 5
And Hope maketh not ashamed, because the love of
God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Spirit
which is given unto us.

Job 13.15 Though He slay me, yet will I Trust in Him.

1 Samuel 30.6 David Encouraged himself in the Lord.

A Mighty Fortress is our God, A bulwark never failing ; Our
helper He, amid the flood of mortal ills prevailing. For
still our ancient foe Doth seek to work us woe; His craft
and power are great, And armed with cruel hate, On earth
not his equal. Did we in our strength confide, Our striving
would losing. Were not the right Man on our side, The Man
of God’s own choosing, Dost ask who that may be?
Christ Jesus , It is He; Lord Sabaoth His name From age
to age the same, And He must win the battle. God’s truth
abideth still, His Kingdom is forever. Amen
