Daily Bible Nugget #650, Proverbs 14:24

The Nugget:

Proverbs 14:24  The crown of the wise is their riches: but the foolishness of fools is folly. (KJV)

Pro 14:24 Their wisdom is a crown to the wise, but their foolish behaviour is round the head of the unwise. (BBE, Bible in Basic English)

Pro 14:24  A prudent man is the crown of the wise: but the occupation of fools is evil. (Brenton, LXX)

Pro 14:24  The crown of wise people is their wealth. The stupidity of fools is just that-stupidity!  (GW, God’s Word translation)

Pro 14:24 Wisdom can make you rich, but foolishness leads to more foolishness. (CEV, Contemporary English Version)

My Comment:

Keil and Delitzch remark that “while wisdom is adorned and raised up by riches, folly on the other hand remains, even when connected with riches, always the same, without being either thereby veiled or removed – on the contrary, the fool, when he is rich, exhibits his follies always more and more.”

Should it ever happen that you receive a large sum of money, don’t squander what you have received. Money goes way faster than it comes!
