Daily Bible Nugget #247, Psalm 119:113

The Nugget:

Psa 119:113 I hate vain thoughts: but thy law do I love.

My Comment:

The saints love the Scriptures exceedingly (The New Topical Textbook, topic “The Scriptures,” page 240). By “saints” is meant ordinary Bible-believing Christians. The Psalmist wrote that he hated vain thoughts. Better than those vain thoughts were what he found in the Bible to meditate upon. He loved the Bible. In the light of eternity, surely many things we might fill our daily thoughts with are not so significant and important as what God has placed in the Bible for us to enjoy, learn more about, think about, even pray about. Make the Bible a higher priority in your life. Get to know more about it. Get to know the Bible itself by reading it regularly. Beyond reading it, learn to study it. Search the Scriptures daily. Share what you are learning from the Bible with another person. I believe that the more we read and study the Bible, the more we learn about and from the Bible, the more interesting the Bible gets. We too can come to the point that the Psalmist reached where we hate vain thoughts, but love God’s Word.
