Daily Bible Nugget #219, Deuteronomy 17:19

The Nugget:

Deu 17:19 And it shall be with him, and he shall read therein all the days of his life: that he may learn to fear the LORD his God, to keep all the words of this law and these statutes, to do them:

My Comment:

The Scriptures should be read (The New Topical Textbook, entry under the topic “The Scriptures,” page 240).

This is likely the most important topic, the most important issue, to address. Bible reading, personal Bible reading, is the source of spiritual food to keep spiritual life alive, vital, growing, flourishing. Without taking in spiritual food from the Bible you will die spiritually, just as you would die physically if you no longer ate physical food. We all find time to eat our necessary physical food. We need to take equal care to be sure to get our spiritual food by reading the Bible. You can start with small spiritual meals. Even five minutes a day will get you much further than if you take no time at all. I’ve been thinking that if a person just read what I have been posting here daily, and read the cross references provided for those who wish to dig deeper, that would furnish quite a solid spiritual meal day by day. However you choose to do it, just do it! Read the Bible daily. The Scriptures are meant for us to read.

For those who desire to DIG DEEPER into this subject:

(1) Consult the cross references given in Nelson’s Cross Reference Guide to the Bible on page 197 for Deuteronomy 17:19.

(2) Consult the cross references given in The New Treasury of Scripture Knowledge on page 215 or in Logos 5 Bible software for Deuteronomy 17:19.

(3) Lacking access to those two resources, consult the cross references for this passage as I have developed them as given below:
