My Comment:
This is the fifth title the Bible gives itself, namely, the holy scriptures. Here is a verse that, standing alone, would be harder to study by itself using most available resources. I have found when teaching the Bible, as in Sunday school, having more cross references available than can be found in most if not all study Bibles is a great help. In this verse the holy scriptures is a reference to the Old Testament. They contain many prophecies or predictions about the coming Messiah and the Gospel. These can be searched out using cross references, and are not only a fascinating study, but prove that Jesus is the promised Messiah, and demonstrate the divine inspiration of the Bible, for no ordinary human writing contains the record of fulfilled prophecy, but the holy scriptures certainly do.
