Daily Bible Nugget #508, 2 Timothy 1:7

The Nugget:

2Ti 1:7  For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

My Comment:

The next part of 2 Timothy 1:7 tells us that God has given us the spirit of love. That is a most important concept. The most direct way to study what else the Bible has to say about this crucial subject is to consult the cross references to that phrase, using the references given in my most recent Bible study tool, The Ultimate Cross Reference Treasury. I share the references below:

of love. Gr. agapē (S# G26, 2Co 2:4). *Rom 5:5, 1Co 13:13, *Gal 5:22, Col 1:8, *1Pe 1:22, *1Jn 4:7.

Romans 5:5
5  And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.
King James Version

1 Corinthians 13:13
13  And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.
King James Version

Galatians 5:22
22  But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
King James Version

Colossians 1:8
8  Who also declared unto us your love in the Spirit.
King James Version

1 Peter 1:22
22  Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:
King James Version

1 John 4:7
7  Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.
King James Version

To the above references I will add one more:

1 John 4:20-21
20  If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?
21  And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also.
King James Version
