2 Timothy 3:15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
My Comment:
In this passage the Bible once again calls itself the holy scriptures. This passage is very instructive. It tells us what God says the Scriptures are for and what they can accomplish in your life. First, note that even a child can understand enough about what the Bible teaches to be saved. Since this is so, it surely proves that the Bible teaches that it is understandable! To hear what some false cults vigorously argue, one would think that the Bible is so hard to grasp that only an official teaching authority possessed exclusively by their church or organization is qualified to understand it. Any group arguing that you cannot understand the Bible is a false cult. Any church that argues that we must include tradition as well as the Bible is a false cult. Any church or group that argues that their one true church has the only correct understanding of the Bible, is full of nonsense and demonstrates they are a false cult that contradicts the Bible. Don’t be led astray by such false teachers. Second, note that all you need to know to be saved is found in the Bible. The Bible does not teach that we are saved when we are baptized. That is the false doctrine of baptismal regeneration. The Bible nowhere suggests we are saved by partaking of so-called sacraments. One false church teaches they are the sole dispenser of God’s grace, the grace required for salvation, and that this grace is received by partaking of their sacraments. This is the false doctrine and practice of sacerdotalism. The Bible teaches we are saved by faith, which is believing that Jesus Christ is the Son of God who died for our sin. The world-view and theology presented in the New Testament is a far cry from what many supposed Christian churches, especially the ones that claim to be the one true church, teach! Have you noticed that more than one church claims to be the one true church? That ought to clue you in that such claims are false. Somewhere I have a tract titled “Which Church Saves?” The answer is, no church saves. Jesus is the Savior, not any church. Time to dig out your Bible and read it for yourself apart from denominational literature to learn what it really says. Your life will be greatly blessed for eternity if you would do so.
