The Philippian jailor did so, and was saved, and all those in his house or family. When my turn came to answer the quiz question on Saturday, November 7, 1953, at the Holiness Youth Crusade rally at the Detroit Institute of Arts, the question addressed to me was did this verse, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved” occur in the Gospels? I answered “true,” which of course is incorrect. But I did not know back then, though I had just accepted Christ that very morning while delivering papers. So that day I did not win the Bulova watch, but I received something much better, salvation and eternal life, even if I did not know this verse, Acts 16:31 that well then. Nevertheless, this verse is a good one to memorize, and that is why I include it in the list of memory verses about the plan of salvation.

For those who desire to DIG DEEPER into this subject:

(1) Consult the cross references given in Nelson’s Cross Reference Guide to the Bible on page 1249 for Acts 16:31.

(2) Consult the cross references given in The New Treasury of Scripture Knowledge on page 1269 or in Logos 5 Bible software for Acts 16:31.

(3) Lacking access to those two resources, consult the cross references for this passage as I have developed them as given below:

     Acts 16:31. And they said. 2 T 4:2. Believe.
