Daily Bible Nugget #271, Psalm 119:172

The Nugget:

Psalm 119:172 My tongue shall speak of thy word: for all thy commandments are righteousness.

My Comment:

Saints speak of the Scriptures (The New Topical Textbook, subtopic under the main topic “The Scriptures,” page 240).

“Saints” as a Bible term has reference to ordinary people who believe the Bible and whose lives have been transformed by its message.

If you believe in the Bible, and read it faithfully, and even study it, the Bible should become ever more interesting to you. We tend to talk with other people about the things that interest us, things we get excited about.

Our society today seems to have manufactured “safe” subjects, like sports, and Political Correctness as a means of lessening the embarrassment of taking part in intelligent conversation about more vital matters. Have you noticed that many people cannot stand complete silence? Some of these conversation avoidance patterns may become a hedge to keep others out of our lives, or are used to keep us out of their lives. I suppose for many people, the last thing they would wish to talk about is the Bible! I even had a pastor tell me one time, “Jerry, you talk too much about the Bible and too much about the Lord.”

If we are genuine Christians, we ought to be interested in the Bible. If we are interested in the Bible, we surely ought to be talking about the Bible (Psalm 119:172). We should talk about the Bible to our children (Deuteronomy 6:7). As God opens the door of opportunity, we ought to be talking to others about the Bible (1 Peter 3:15) and answering their questions about our faith. As Bible believers, we ought to be talking with each other about the Bible and spiritual things (Malachi 3:16, 17). If we observe a friend or acquaintance going down the wrong path in life, we ought to warn them (Leviticus 19:17). We ought to be excited about our relationship to God, and be willing to share our testimony with others (Psalm 107:2). Since the Gospel of Christ is the power of God unto salvation (Romans 1:16), we surely should share what the Bible has to say about how to be saved with those who are not saved.

I think that contemporary culture has lost the foundation and focus it once had, a focus that was in the past more in agreement with the values found in the Bible. The Psalmist says God’s commandments are righteous, or just. Yet many people today think they disagree with the Bible. Those who believe the Bible seem to be falling short in sharing the message of the Bible with others in their own circle of influence. I think it is fair to say that most people who think they disagree with the Bible actually disagree with a caricature of the Bible and its Christ. If they were more fully informed of what the Bible and its Christ are all about, they would not be so prone to reject its message. To fix that problem, we need more Christians to learn to share what they know about the Bible with others, then actually do so. Christians in the early church were spoken of as those who turned the world upside down (Acts 17:6). We need to express that same urgency in sharing the Bible and our Lord Jesus Christ. If we were successful as the early church was successful, the society as a whole could literally be turned around for the better by the power of the Gospel.

Daily Bible Nugget #270, John 17:6

The Nugget:

John 17:6 I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world: thine they were, and thou gavest them me; and they have kept thy word.

My Comment:

Saints obey the Scriptures (The New Topical Textbook, subheading under the main heading “The Scriptures,” page 240).

Jesus said of His disciples, “they have kept thy word” (John 17:6). That is an amazing statement. Recall that the two brothers, James and John, involved their mother in a request to have the privilege of being seated on the right and on the left of Christ in His kingdom. When the others heard of it, they were very upset at James and John (Matthew 20:24). Jesus had told them (Matthew 20:25, 26) that though the Gentile powers of that day exercised dominion over their subjects, Jesus ordered “But it shall not be so among you” (Matthew 20:26). I believe in this text Jesus taught against hierarchy. Perhaps some semblance of hierarchy seems necessary in church organization today, but I often wonder if this is really the will of our Lord Jesus Christ. The first churches established by the original twelve apostles and Paul were “house churches” that met in homes (Romans 16:3-5). There were no denominations then. But right after Jesus taught against hierarchy it seems the disciples got into quite a discussion among themselves about “who should be the greatest” (Mark 9:34). The fact that the disciples could even have such a discussion among themselves is surely proof positive that they did not take the words of Matthew 16:18, 19 to mean that Peter had the pre-eminence among them assigned by Christ Himself, though one major church stakes its claim to be the One True Church upon this text. One evidence of the authenticity of the Gospel record is that it clearly points up the flaws and foibles of the people it depicts–even of the apostles themselves. They were very human. But that is what makes the claim of Jesus all the more striking when He said of them, “They have kept thy word” (John 17:6). This is a most interesting theme to trace through Scripture. The only way I know of that you can trace this theme is by following out the cross references assembled for this amazing passage. I share the cross references below for your blessing and further spiritual insight. But the chief point at issue is that the apostles obeyed God’s Word. God has made provision for us that we should do the same through the power of His Holy Spirit working in our lives to produce the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22, 23) as the result of the regenerative change He produces in our lives when we believe in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17; Titus 3:5).

The Rapture Question Answered, Part 7

I am writing this series about the Rapture in response to an email letter I received from Mr. John Little on April 28, 2014 which he wrote against the pre-tribulation Rapture view. I believe his “Shock Letter” is very well done, and deserves close reading, and a careful hearing. If he should be correct in his argument, if he is correct on a point where I have been wrong, I am obligated to change my view on that point. The pre-tribulation Rapture view has been much attacked of late, and I have read the testimonies of many Christians who state they were taught the pre-tribulation viewpoint, but no longer hold that view. So far in my studies, I believe they have unwittingly left the correct view and adopted a false one.

Mr. Little writes:

Judgment Begins At The House Of God

Please understand that God IS going to pour out His wrath upon the church because of their sins and their disbelief. For proof, look no further than this:

For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God? And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear? – 1 Peter 4:17-18

God is furious at the sin in the church. We have become just like the world, and by our actions, we have blasphemed the name of God. We deserve the wrath of a holy God, and we’re going to get it. But, you don’t have to suffer that wrath.

You can obey God and avoid what is coming. The obedient are never appointed unto wrath, but the disobedient ALWAYS are.

Will you obey?

That is a good challenge. The church has indeed become so much like the world of the unsaved that various polls have shown that the church is indistinguishable from the world in its divorce rate and on many points its belief system.

But that has no bearing upon the truth or falsehood of the pre-tribulation Rapture doctrine!

Mr. Little next states:

Rebellion

God has harsh words for those who rebel against Him:

For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the Lord, he hath also rejected thee from being king. – 1 Samuel 15:23

If you have gotten to this point in this article, you know that the Pre-Tribulation Rapture Theory is wrong. You might still be fighting it, but deep down, you know that we are going through the Tribulation. And, if you keep fighting this, you are in rebellion against God.

And, rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft in the eyes of God. (And, you know who they worship in witchcraft.)

Furthermore, this is not the first time that I’ve talked about this.

I have gotten “to this point in this article,” and I am not at all convinced that the Pre-Tribulation Rapture Theory is wrong. Actually, I am more convinced than ever that my position in support of the Pre-Tribulation Rapture Theory is correct, and in Parts 1-6 of this series, The Rapture Question Answered, I have provided Biblical support for my position, and pointed out several different kinds of flaws present in Mr. Little’s argument so far.

But Mr. Little gets better as he proceeds:

Jesuit Pre-Tribulation Rapture Theory Fraud

In February of last year, I proved to you that the Pre-Tribulation Rapture Theory was a fraud. It was started by a book published in 1811 – written by a Jesuit priest, Manuel Lacunza. That book was published ten years after his death, and it has infected Christianity with its Jesuit lie. I traced the history of this infection, here:

Jesuit Pretrib Rapture

It went from the Jesuits to Edward Irving. From Irving, it went to John Nelson Darby. From Darby, it went to Cyrus Ingerson Scofield. When it got to Scofield, it was all over.

Are you going to fall for a Jesuit lie?

Please remember that the Jesuits are the same people that brought you the Illuminati.

If you need a video, there’s this one:

“After the Tribulation: The Pre-Tribulation Rapture Fraud Exposed” Official Movie

YouTube shortlink: http://youtu.be/jTmZHDb_sP8

Mr. Little has fallen victim to the ad hominem fallacy in logic: attack the character of the supposed source of a doctrine and/or its history, rather than carefully examining the Biblical evidence and proving from the Bible the falsity or truthfulness of a doctrine.

Mr. Little continues:

You Must Love The Truth

By now, you have seen the truth. I am now calling you to love the truth. Loving something doesn’t mean that you like it, but it does mean that you hold to it, anyway. But, if you choose not to love the truth, beware.

Please take heed to what Paul says:

And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness. – 2 Thessalonians 2:8-12

I strongly dislike the idea that we are going to go through the Tribulation. I hate pain and suffering, and I hate the thought that the people I love will be suffering also. But, I am commanded to love the truth, and that means accepting it – even though I do not want to.

I accept what the Bible says about going through the Tribulation, even though I do not like it.

Will you join me in this acceptance of The Truth?

Those who are well taught, well-informed about what the Bible teaches will not join Mr. Little in this matter. In 2 Thessalonians chapter 2 Paul appealed to the Thessalonian Christian believers who were confused over this very issue that they had fallen into a trap or snare and had become, as it were, greatly deceived.

Contrary to Paul’s teaching, the Thessalonians had been nearly convinced that they had missed the Rapture and that the Resurrection of the righteous had already taken place, and consequently they were actually in the time of the Day of the Lord.

Paul pointed out in 2 Thessalonians 2:1 that he had already taught them about the Rapture, our gathering unto Christ, and that this event takes place before the Day of the Lord begins. It even takes place before the great falling away or apostasy. It takes place before the coming and revelation of the Antichrist.

The error that the Thessalonians had fallen into, prompted by false spirits teaching deception, and even a counterfeit letter written as if it were from Paul (2 Thessalonians 2:2), parallels what Mr. Little is teaching in his letter in this way:

Paul gives this order of events:

(1) first, our gathering together unto Him (2 Thessalonians 2:1), a reference to the Pre-tribulation Rapture taught in 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18. We know the Rapture is before the Great Tribulation because the Great Tribulation takes place during the Day of the Lord. Paul writes of these events in 1 Thessalonians in the order they are to take place: he mentions the Rapture in chapter 4; he mentions the Day of the Lord in chapter 5 (1 Thessalonians 5:2). As certain as it is that chapter 4 comes before chapter 5, just that certain it is that the Rapture comes before the Day of the Lord and the Great Tribulation.

(2) next, “a falling away first.” This is the time of a great apostasy (2 Thessalonians 2:3) that follows the Rapture of the true believers mentioned already in 2 Thessalonians 2:1.

(3) next, Paul mentions the revelation of the “man of sin,” a title of the Antichrist (2 Thessalonians 2:3, 4).

(4) finally, Paul makes mention of the fact that the Antichrist has not yet come on the scene, being hindered from doing so (2 Thessalonians 2:6), until the time that hindrance is removed (2 Thessalonians 2:7).

(5) Paul ends the discussion with no mention of either a Rapture or a resurrection to follow these enumerated events which he had already taught them about (2 Thessalonians 2:5), therefore from this passage in 2 Thessalonians it is not possible to properly place the Rapture and its accompanying resurrection of the righteous dead in Christ at some point subsequent to the appearance of Antichrist and the Day of the Lord.

The false teachers Paul is writing to refute held to this order:

(1) The Day of the Lord (2 Thessalonians 2:2, better substantiated reading of the original Greek texts) is now present (taught to the Thessalonians during a time they were suffering great persecution);

(2) Leaving the options that either the Thessalonians missed the Rapture and the resurrection of the dead in Christ since it allegedly took place already, or those events were sometime in the future after the Day of the Lord they had now entered.

The teaching of those who follow the Post-tribulation Rapture Theory more closely follows the false teaching Paul writes to correct, and not the order of events taught by Paul. Mr. Little follows the Post-tribulation Rapture position.

Mr. Little continues:

True Biblical Proof

So, let me bring you back to where we started, the Bible. I showed you that there are three things that MUST happen before the Rapture, and there is no way that you can get around these proofs. Here are those three things that must come BEFORE THE RAPTURE:

The Antichrist

The Resurrection

The Tribulation

There will be no Rapture until after those three things. Period.

Again, here is what Paul says in 2 Thessalonians 2:

Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God. – 2 Thessalonians 2:3-4

This means that the Antichrist MUST come before the Rapture.

I am sorry, Mr. Little. I do not read in the passage you have cited from 2 Thessalonians 2:3, 4 ANYTHING about either the Rapture or the Resurrection. Those things are not mentioned here. And where they are mentioned, they are not at all mentioned in the order you specify, as I fully proved in my Part 1 and Part 2 of this series about your letter, The Rapture Question Answered. All of the Parts I have written in this series may be conveniently accessed together under the Category given at the right side of this page, “Bible Prophecy.”

I’ve covered the first six pages as they stand in my saved copy of Mr. Little’s excellent letter about the Rapture. My file contains 28 pages, so there is more to come for next time, The Rapture Question Answered, Part 8.

Daily Bible Nugget #269, Luke 8:21

The Nugget:

Luke 8:21 And he answered and said unto them, My mother and my brethren are these which hear the word of God, and do it.

My Comment:

Saints obey the Scriptures (The New Topical Textbook, subtopic under the main topic, “The Scriptures,” page 240).

This was, to my mind, undoubtedly one of the most trying times in the life of Mary, the mother of our Lord Jesus Christ. The story behind what is happening in Luke 8:21 is not much spoken of, or preached about, that I have ever heard.

The Pharisees were engaged in a plot to kill Jesus. At this point they engaged His own family members against Him. This is made more clear in Mark chapter 3, which is a parallel account. Jesus was protected providentially both by the crowds that surrounded Him, making Him inaccessible to Mary and his brothers (recall the comment in John that “neither did his brethren believe in him,” John 7:5), and by the fact he was in a house so full of people no one could come in from outside to get at him.

Mary and her children and family friends had become persuaded that Jesus was “beside himself” (Mark 3:21). Members of the audience informed Jesus that His mother and brothers were outside the house trying to communicate to Him. Jesus responded with the words of the above text in Luke 8:21, “My mother and my brethren are these which hear the word of God, and do it.” Mark tells us in Mark 3:35 that Jesus said, “For whosoever shall do the will of God, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.”

Surely at the point when Jesus said this, Mary and the brothers of Jesus were not doing the will of God, and were not about the business of hearing and doing the word of God. Those who make much of Mary as the mother of God (really a misnomer because she was the mother of our Lord’s humanity, not divinity!) need to realize that most clearly here she was not sinless–she had, along with her sons, the half-brothers of Jesus, been deceived by the snare of Satan into attempting to betray Jesus by their attempt to turn Him over to the Pharisees (Mark 3:2, 6, 21, 31). Let this account be a lesson. Satan is very clever in his conniving efforts to lead us astray or to ensnare us. The way to keep on track in faithfulness to God is to hear God’s Word as it is now recorded for us in the Bible, and to obey God’s Word.

Daily Bible Nugget #268, Psalm 119:67

The Nugget:

Psalm 119:67 Before I was afflicted I went astray: but now have I kept thy word.

My Comment:

Saints obey the Scriptures (The New Topical Textbook, subheading under the main topic “The Scriptures,” page 240).

True saints–Bible believers–obey the Scriptures. It might be rather difficult to obey the Scriptures if you have not read and studied them. It really is worth your time to get better acquainted with the Bible and what it teaches.

The Psalmist admits his failures. Before God sent corrective difficulties his way the Psalmist went astray or fell into error. Sometimes falling into error or going astray from God brings its own immediate and negative outcome (Galatians 6:7).

The Psalmist shares with us that after God’s chastisement, he learned better. Now he obeys or keeps God’s Word.

Of course, getting to know God, and getting to know God’s will by reading and studying the Bible for ourselves could very well keep us out of a lot of trouble. Jesus told the Sadducees “Ye do therefore greatly err, because you do not know the Scriptures.” I know of people I have met over the years who have fallen away from the truth they once knew, and fallen into the error of Seventh-day Adventism. One such person I had assisted many years ago to avoid being entrapped in the Jehovah’s Witnesses. Many years later this person left the Baptist church to affiliate with the Seventh-day Adventist Church. From what I understand of the situation, one of the chief reasons for changing churches and belief systems is that this person disagreed with the doctrine of eternal punishment. Why do I say these groups are in error? Because they share points of belief (or unbelief) held by the Sadducees that Jesus roundly criticized (see Mark 12:24, 27).

Is it possible for a true believer in our Lord Jesus Christ to turn away from the truth and fall away permanently from Christ? Many Bible-believing Christians hold to the doctrine of “Once Saved, Always Saved,” and base it upon such a promise as John 10:28. Of course, they forgot to take context into consideration–what comes before or after John 10:28. In this case they ought to carefully ponder John 10:27 which describes the kind of persons for whom the promise is given in John 10:28. Now those who are Calvinists will dispute this, and some may use the flawed logic of ad hominem attack, and say the corrective doctrine I am advocating is Arminianism. Attaching a label to something is not the same as going to the Scripture and finding Bible evidence to back your counter-claim.

What if a person who claims to be a Bible believing Christian, claims to be saved, adopts a new lifestyle and now believes in and actually enters into a so-called “gay marriage.” Even some high-level denominational leaders, as in the Anglican Church, have done this. Can a person engage in the kinds of activities known as Sodomy in Bible terms and still be a genuine Christian? The Bible says absolutely not. That is a sin, listed among several others, that the Bible says will disqualify you from inheriting the Kingdom of God or even seeing it (1 Corinthians 6:9, 10).

Salvation can be lost by committing either doctrinal or moral apostasy.

Those who teach that apostasy is not possible for true Christians are teaching false doctrine, because the Bible warns believers about this very issue (2 Peter 3:17).

It is very important to know, believe, and obey the Scriptures.

Daily Bible Nugget #267, Psalm 119:42

The Nugget:

Psalm 119:42 So shall I have wherewith to answer him that reproacheth me: for I trust in thy word.

My Comment:

Saints trust in the Scriptures (The New Topical Textbook, subheading under the main heading “The Scriptures,” page 240).

“Saints” is a Bible term for ordinary believers in the Bible. The Psalmist speaks in Psalm 119:41, “Let thy mercies come also unto me,” and he follows that thought with Psalm 119:42, “So shall I have wherewith to answer him that reproacheth me: for I trust in thy word.”

The Bible is surely one Book you can confidently place your trust in. It has stood the test of time. It has survived the constant attacks of its enemies.

It has rendered the opinions of so-called “higher critics” utter foolishness. It has been proven accurate time after time by the findings of archeology in the Holy Land and neighboring regions. Just consult the Archaeology Study Bible as one readily obtainable resource on that score.

When I sometimes encounter the remarks of atheists in comments on the Internet (notice, despite my invitation to atheists to post comments here, they have fallen strangely silent!), I lament their lack of basic knowledge of the Bible and its proofs.

Now many years ago, a lawyer (Irwin H. Linton, who practiced law before the U.S. Supreme Court) wrote a book called A Lawyer Examines the Bible. Now there is a most valuable book to sink your teeth into. Mr. Linton affirmed he had never met a single atheist who had done a lawyer-like examination of the Bible, studying the arguments both for and against it. Mr. Linton said he had never met an atheist who had read so much as even one of the standard classic scholarly works written in defense of the Bible and the truth of Christianity. Neither have I met such a person.

Sometimes I have met atheists or agnostics who have read books against the Bible or Christianity, like Thomas Paine’s Age of Reason, or Bertrand Russell’s Why I Am Not a Christian, or the works of Robert Ingersoll, an atheist of a former generation. But they have never read scholarly books in defense of the Bible and Christianity.

I met the top attorney for the legal firm in Dearborn, Michigan that handles the legal affairs of the Ford Motor Company. One of his staff attorneys was a student or member of my Sunday school class for college and career age young people, the Lamplighter Class, at Covenant Baptist Church. He was most concerned about his boss, for his boss had been active in a Baptist church, but had turned away from God and the Bible, and now claimed for some years to be an atheist. I went at my student’s request and the permission and invitation of his boss to meet his boss at the law office.

What was to be a twenty-minute meeting lasted about two hours. The boss claimed to have read books in defense of Christianity, but said they were unconvincing. I asked him to name just one of those books–but he claimed he could not recall any titles. I said, “That’s fine. I’ll start naming some books I have in my own library, and when you hear a title or author that you recall having read, we can discuss it in detail here and now.” When I got to the title by Linton, A Lawyer Examines the Bible, he thought he recalled reading that one. So, I pulled it out of my briefcase and handed it to him. I asked him to point out any argument Linton presents that he felt was flawed. He confessed, upon having the actual book in his hands, that he in fact had not read it. I presented other probably unanswerable evidence in support of the Bible. He thanked me for sharing with him. I do not personally know what ultimate impact that meeting had on this high-powered attorney. Certainly he had no argument to present against belief in the Bible for which I did not have a ready answer that day.

The Psalmist says he placed his trust in God’s Word, the Bible. The Bible equipped the Psalmist to have an answer for those who would try to put him to shame.

If anyone who reads this post has a question they want answered about the Bible, or who thinks they have an argument against what I have written in support of the Bible, feel free to post your comment below. If you are not able to trust the Bible, why not?

And if there are any atheists or agnostics out there (especially if you favor such groups as the American Humanist Association, or the Freedom from Religion Foundation, or the Southern Poverty Law Center, or belong to any such group), here is your chance to either get your questions answered, or present your case against the Bible. Your posts, if in your own words and on topic, will be approved, and will be answered with gentleness and respect. I check for new comments that require my approval at least once a day, usually in the evening. So you might have to wait a day to see your comment appear if you have never posted here before.

The Rapture Question Answered, Part 6

John Little in his Shock Letter of April 28, 2014 writes against the pre-tribulation Rapture position.

I have never yet read a convincing refutation of the Bible-based pre-tribulation Rapture viewpoint to which I hold. I have made a careful study of this issue for many years. I have collected a sizable library of books written about this issue.

I have found that those who support a different viewpoint:

(1) fail to carefully interpret the Scriptures involved in the light of their immediate context;

(2) fail to grasp the larger prophetic teaching taught in Scripture based on the provisions of the unconditional eternal covenants made by God with Abraham and David;

(3) sometimes engage in ad hominem arguments–arguments that do not address Scripture, but attack or criticize the alleged historical source of the pre-tribulation Rapture doctrine, or its supposed newness;

(4) base their non-acceptance of the pre-tribulation Rapture issue upon issues that have no direct bearing upon the truthfulness of the doctrine, but the alleged negative outcomes belief in such teaching will bring to those who do believe the Bible teaching about the pre-tribulation Rapture.

I will try to present what Mr. John Little has written in his Shock Letter as fairly as I know how. If he can prove his point, should it disagree with what I believe, I of course will be obligated to change my position.

John writes:

Now, there’s a reason why I am so passionate about this, and it’s the same reason why this website exists. If you don’t get this, and if you don’t prepare, you are going to die a terrible death.

I believe this very sincere and concerned statement by Mr. Little illustrates the reason why Mr. Little does not believe in the pre-tribulation Rapture. Such a reason is flawed logic, and illustrates my point (4) immediately above. I furnished the most extensive cross references for Proverbs 22:3 to show careful students of the Bible will indeed seek faithfully to be prepared for any contingency. I gave the cross references for Acts 14:22 to show the Bible teaches that true Christians will suffer persecution and tribulation, but I would call attention to the fact that I proved from 2 Thessalonians 2:1-3 that believers of this age will not experience the Great Tribulation, for they will be removed by the Rapture before that singular event transpires.

Next, Mr. Little states:

When I proved to you that the Resurrection must happen before the Rapture, the verses that almost immediately follow that passage, say this:

The problem is, Mr. Little has failed to provide any Scripture properly interpreted which would show that the Great Tribulation [I’m quite sure this is what he meant to say here] must happen before the Rapture. The passage Mr. Little appealed to was from Matthew 24:29 and following verses. He suggested that the Rapture is mentioned in Matthew 24:31. I argued in a previous post that this argument presumes that the “elect” are the Christians who will be raptured. I demonstrated that the reference in Matthew 24 is to the Jewish elect which at that future time will at last be completely regathered to their promised homeland, Israel, in accordance with Old Testament promises and prophesies and the Abrahamic and Davidic Covenant provisions.

Mr. Little then states:

When I proved to you that the Resurrection must happen before the Rapture, the verses that almost immediately follow that passage, say this:

But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you. For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. – 1 Thessalonians 5:1-3

Right now, the people who speak the loudest about ‘peace and safety’ are those who either 1) support Obama or 2) believe in a pre-tribulation Rapture.

Notice what Mr. Little failed to see: (1) “the day of the Lord” referred to in 1 Thessalonians 5:1-3 is mentioned AFTER the Rapture taught by Paul in the preceding chapter, 1 Thessalonians 4:17. (2) The order of mention corresponds here to the order that will be seen fulfilled when these events take place. (3) The rather unfair, even invidious assertion stating those who speak the loudest about ‘peace and safety’ either support Obama or believe in a pre-tribulation Rapture is a clear instance of ad hominem attack or argument, a logical fallacy which has no weight in a careful discussion of such an important issue, and an example of my point (3) above. Even if such a statement were true, and I doubt it is, that does not refute the Biblical basis of the pre-tribulation Rapture doctrine.

Mr. Little next brings in considerations he draws from Revelation 12:

Revelation 12

I was asked to give an interpretation of Revelation 12, and I finally sent it out last night. That chapter talks about Satan being cast down to Earth and about the beginning of the Tribulation. It also offers a reason why some Christians will NOT experience the wrath of God during the Tribulation and WHY they survive the Antichrist:

And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days. – Revelation 12:6

And, Revelation 12 repeats this here:

And when the dragon saw that he was cast unto the earth, he persecuted the woman which brought forth the man child. And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent. – Revelation 12:13-14

If you want to escape the Antichrist and the wrath of God… get to that place in the wilderness that has been prepared by God for the coming of the Tribulation. It is the Tribulation equivalent to the Land of Goshen, when the Children of Israel were sheltered from the plagues of Egypt, that were sent by God.

That woman in Revelation 12, is Israel. She gave birth to Christ, and she wears a crown of 12 stars. And, when this part of Revelation 12 happens, she will already have accepted Christ. She will already have been a follower of Jesus, before she escapes the Antichrist.

Mr. Little is correct when he identifies the woman in Revelation 12 as Israel.

Whether Israel at the time this happens will already have accepted Christ I am not sure at this time in my studies–in my large project to expand the cross references available for serious Bible study I am only as far as Revelation chapter 1. But I am making steady progress, and will get to chapter 12 eventually, the Lord willing. Most likely though Israel will not believe in Jesus Christ until He appears in Zion (see Romans 11:26, 27). When Christ returns He will destroy the Antichrist (2 Thessalonians 2:8). It is likely that a remnant of the Jews will be hid and escape the ravages of the Antichrist (Isaiah 16:1-5).

Mr. Little continues:

The Chilling Part Of Revelation 12

Here’s the chilling part:

And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ. – Revelation 12:17

Please understand what is being said here. If you are not with this woman, or at least in a position to go where this woman goes… you will die an awful death at the hands of the Antichrist.

Period.

I know of no Scripture that teaches that believers of “this age” (Matthew 12:32) who are presently the Church, the body of Christ, will be involved in the events depicted in Revelation 12.

God Himself inspired John when he wrote the book of Revelation to give us the broad outline of its structure in the first chapter at Revelation 1:19. Chapter 12 is part of the third point in that outline, “the things which shall be hereafter.” The very expression occurs in Revelation 4:1, which shows the careful reader that the events starting at Revelation 4:1 are all yet future to us and have not been fulfilled as of yet. You will seek in vain to find any mention of the “church” in the third section of Revelation. The evidence is that the church is not mentioned because the church is not present where these events are taking place.

Therefore, it is unlikely in the extreme that God will call any of His believing Church of this age to be involved with hiding from the Antichrist. There is no Scripture that I am aware of that suggests that at the event mentioned in Revelation 12 there will be any persons other than the Jews who are hidden.

Mr. Little continues to develop his theme most interestingly:

Worse, most of you will probably have died a terrible death already, because there is just a remnant that the Antichrist goes to fight against.

Why will there be just a remnant?

Solar EMP

Well there are a host of possible reasons, and I’ve described many of them on this site. But, there is one Biblical reason what concerns me the most:

And I will send a fire on Magog, and among them that dwell carelessly in the isles: and they shall know that I am the Lord. – Ezekiel 39:6

THAT happens during the coming of Gog and Magog, a battle that will usher in the salvation of Israel. The problem is that the ‘fire’ of Ezekiel 39:6 sounds like a Solar EMP. If that is true, you will die terribly, if you are not prepared.

The best interpreter of Scripture is Scripture itself, so I will give the cross references for Ezekiel 39:6 as I have them at this time:

Ezekiel 39:6. I will send a fire. Note: Some terrible judgment will destroy the countries whence the army of Gog was led forth, about the same time that the army itself shall be cut off. Ezk 28:18. 30:8, 16. *Ezk 38:19-22. 1 K 18:24, 38. 2 K 1:10. *Ps 11:6. *Is 66:14-16. Am 1:4, 7, 10. Nah 1:6. Zc 14:12. He 12:28, 29. *Re 20:9. Magog. Ezk 38:2. and among them. Mr. Little continues:

This Solar EMP may also make it impossible for you get to that ‘wilderness place’ that God is going to prepare for the Revelation 12 Woman. It will do terrible damage to the transportation systems of North America and Europe – should you survive this ‘fire’.

Now is the time to choose whether or not to join the ‘Peace and Safety’ Christians. If you choose the truth, you might be able to join the Revelation 12 Woman who is protected from the wrath of the Antichrist and the wrath of God. However, just like those few children of Israel that may have chosen not to believe God during the Passover plague, you will suffer the wrath of God – if you choose not to believe what God is telling you here.

I do think everyone should act prudently (Proverbs 22:3) and have a plan should the area where you live suffer from either a man-made or a solar EMP (electro magnetic pulse–very damaging to modern electronic circuitry now used almost everywhere). But this does not mean we will suffer from such a devastating event, whether man-made or natural as from a solar flare.

It is unlikely in the extreme that Ezekiel 39:6 has anything to do with an EMP.

I have reached the bottom of page 4 of my saved file of the April 28, 2014 Shock Letter by Mr. John Little. His argument continues for quite a number of pages, an argument that will prove very interesting and instructive for all to consider.

This post is already nearly 2000 words long, so I’ll have to continue the examination of more of Mr. Little’s fine letter in my next installment, The Rapture Question Answered, Part 7.

Daily Bible Nugget #266, Jeremiah 15:16

The Nugget:

Jeremiah 15:16 Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O LORD God of hosts.

My Comment:

Saints rejoice in the Scriptures (The New Topical Textbook, subheading under main heading “The Scriptures,” page 240).

Jeremiah found God’s words, and they were to him the joy and rejoicing of his heart. That should be the response of everyone who reads and studies the Bible. Jeremiah found God’s words were as enjoyable as a delicious meal. God’s Word in the Bible is the food our spiritual life thrives upon. Of course, if one rarely or never takes in spiritual food from the Bible, that person’s spiritual life will be stunted, if not dead. Take time regularly to enjoy a spiritual meal from the Bible. If you want more joy in your life, if you desire more rejoicing in your life, you will find reading the Bible and studying the Bible will bring that joy and rejoicing to your life.

Daily Bible Nugget #265, Psalm 119:162

The Nugget:

Psalm 119:162 I rejoice at thy word, as one that findeth great spoil. (KJV)

Psalm 119:162 I am delighted by your saying, like a man who makes discovery of great wealth. (Basic English Bible)

My Comment:

Saints rejoice in the Scriptures (The New Topical Textbook, subtopic under the major topic “The Scriptures,” page 240).

In our day, many get excited about the prospects of gaining great wealth. They get excited about the stock market. Some hope to win the lottery. Some get excited when they are able to buy a needed or prized item at a good discount or lower price. Others rejoice when they receive a pay raise or bonus. In every case, they get excited over increased wealth. The Psalmist in his day spoke of the excitement of finding great spoil–as when victorious over an enemy in battle, the soldiers shared the plunder of war.

The Psalmist compared the excitement about discovering great wealth to the excitement true Bible believers experience when they discover more truth in God’s Word, the Bible. Genuine Bible study, what I have called here Real Bible Study, is most exciting, and most beneficial to those who will expend the effort, like seeking for hidden treasure, to learn more truth from the Bible.

From long experience, I know that one of the best ways to seek for the hidden treasure there to be found in God’s Word, the Bible, is to study the Bible using cross references. Try it. You will like it. Check out the cross references furnished immediately below.

Daily Bible Nugget #264, Psalm 119:148

The Nugget:

Psalm 119:148 Mine eyes prevent the night watches, that I might meditate in thy word. (KJV)

Psa 119:148 I lie awake at night, thinking of your promises. (CEV)

My Comment:

Saints meditate in the Scriptures (The New Topical Textbook, subheading under main heading “The Scriptures,” page 240). Instead of counting sheep, the Psalmist meditated upon God’s Word found in the Bible. No doubt if he awoke during the night, or woke up early, he did the same. True saints–ordinary people who believe the Bible–find pleasure and encouragement as they read God’s Word repeatedly, and then make God’s Word from the Bible a part of their thinking. Surely the example of the Psalmist is a good example to follow.
