Daily Bible Nugget #90, 1 Corinthians 10:13

The Nugget:

1Co 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

My Comment:

Here is a Bible promise to encourage and assure you. The promise is anchored in the faithfulness of God. God promises that for every temptation He will make a way of escape so that you are able to bear it. Temptation may be a reference to God’s testing of us to prove our faith. God does not tempt us to evil. James tells us in his little book that “God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man” (James 1:13). James further tells us “every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed” (James 1:14). James concludes with the statement, “Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death” (James 1:15).

One Response to Daily Bible Nugget #90, 1 Corinthians 10:13

  1. ken sagely says:

rom 8.28 and we know all things work together for good
to them that love god to them that are called according to
    his purpose.

1 cor 10.13 therefore hath no temptation taken you but such as is
common to man; but god is faithful, who will not permit you to be
tempted above that ye are able, but will, with the temptation, also
make the way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

reading this verse one cannot help but be struck by the tremendous
comfort it has afforded to tested saints of god through the centuries!
young believers have clung to it as to a life line and older believers
have rested on it as upon a pillow! god would not allow any unbear
able temptation come our way!! at the same time we should be
warned that we should not expose ourselves to temptation!!

very encouraging cross references on i co 10.13

    to stand.
    5. heb 11.35-38 women received their dead raised to life again, and others

yea, moreover, of bonds and imprisonment; vs 37 they were stoned, they
were sawn asunder, were tested, were slain with sword; they wandered
about in sheepskins and goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, tormented
vs 38 of whom the world was not worthy; they wandered in deserts, and
