2Ti 1:9 Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,
My Comment:
As a verse about the plan of salvation, this passage tells us plainly that we are not saved according to our works. That is a most important concept, because most people have mistaken ideas about this, sometimes even taught by their teachers at church! If you get this point wrong (as most certainly the Council of Trent did years ago), you will be in for a very unpleasant surprise come eternity. God saves us according to his own purpose and grace as given to us in Christ Jesus. There is much to “unpack” in this short verse.
