Daily Bible Nugget #193, Matthew 4:4

The Nugget:

Matthew 4:4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

My Comment:

The Scriptures are designed for supporting life. The Scriptures are our spiritual food. Regularly reading and studying them is what it takes to become strong spiritually. By the example of Jesus, notice He used the Scripture to foil the attack of Satan. Therefore, among many other things, the Scriptures are designed to answer the devil. We are to live by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God. Where are those words to be found? Not in Tradition. They are found only in the Bible. Notice, too, that Jesus answers the temptation of Satan with Scripture. Jesus knew the Scripture well enough to quote it. We, too, should memorize Scripture. That will help us in our spiritual walk, equip us to deal with temptation or discouragement, and to share with others what God’s Word has taught us.

For those who desire to DIG DEEPER into this subject:
