Daily Bible Nugget #188, John 15:3

The Nugget:

Joh 15:3 Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.

My Comment:

The Scriptures are designed for cleansing the heart. Jesus stated we are clean through the word which he has spoken to us. That word is recorded in the Bible. It is therefore through reading the Bible for ourselves, or through hearing it read aloud and properly taught, that our hearts are cleansed by the Word of God now strictly limited to what is contained in the Bible. Cleansing of the heart results in holiness in our life. Holiness is an absolute requirement for salvation as plainly stated in Hebrews 12:14. One of the hymns I appreciate is titled “Take Time to be Holy.” I have posted the words of that hymn elsewhere on this site, probably under Bible Study Methods, under the devotional study of the Bible. If we truly belong to God and have a personal relationship with His Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, we will be attracted to the light of His Word. Those who have yet to experience the saving power of the Gospel and the cleansing power of the blood of Christ may not find the Bible and its message attractive to them yet. Recall that Jesus taught that men love darkness rather than light because their deeds are evil (John 3:19). If you are not yet walking in the light of the Gospel, take time to read the Bible as frequently advocated here for yourself so that you may become rightly related with the loving Savior and enjoy eternal life starting in the here and now.

For those who desire to DIG DEEPER into this subject:

(1) Consult the cross references given in Nelson’s Cross Reference Guide to the Bible on page 1198 for John 15:3.

(2) Consult the cross references given in The New Treasury of Scripture Knowledge on page 1217 or in Logos 5 Bible software for John 15:3.

(3) Lacking access to those two resources, consult the cross references for this passage as I have developed them as given below:
